Institute for Family Caregiving Co-Founder Willetha Barnette on stage with Dr. Animesh Jain before an audience of first year medical students on March 30, 2022. It was Ms. Barnette’s fourth year of addressing the student audience, covering topics such as her 40 year battle with Crohn’s disease, doctor/patient relationships, and the importance of family caregiving, all from her perspective as an older, African American woman. Organizers describe her talk as “one of the most meaningful sessions of the year,” and one that the students really love.
